Royal reach semi-finals at Touch Rugby Carnival 2010

Royal (ORAUK) Touch Rugby team participated at the Sri Lanka Schools Touch Rugby Carnival held at Harrow Rugby Football Club, Stanmore, Middlesex HA7 4LF.

Royal met Wesley in their first group match. The match was by Royal.

Royal met St. Thomas' in their second match and Royal won this match convincingly.

In the final group match Royal played St. Anthony's Katugastota. Match was won by Royal.

At the quarter finals, Royal played Thurstan and once again the Royal team was too strong for their opposition.

At the semi-finals of the cup tournament, it was Lumbini who lined up against Royal. Royal and Lumbini scored two tries each and the match went into extra time golden try (Lumbini team which according to some sources consisted of some professional rugby players who were in the UK especially to play in this tournament). Lumbini scored the decisive try and were the eventual winners beating Zahira in the final.

It was a gutsy performance by the young Royal team which showed plenty of spirit. Royal with a young team nearly pulled it off.

Royal was captained by Azwer Mansoor.

Royal supporters stood out and were the most vocal in the grounds.
